The announcement below is an English translation from the original Japanese announcement.
In view of the Japanese government’s announcement requesting voluntary restraint of nonessential and nonurgent meetings for the citizens and the continuously spreading status of Novel Coronavirus Infection, the DEIM2020 Organization Committee has decided to cancel the holding of DEIM2020 at the predetermined conference venue.
As an alternative means, the committee plans to organize online meetings for almost the entire part of the scheduled DEIM2020 program. The committee is working to confirm the technical feasibility and to prepare the necessary logistics. All the presenters, session chairs, commentators and participants are kindly advised to maintain their schedule from March 2nd to March 4th. Further information will be announced on the official web page and emailed to the participants.
The registration fee will not be refunded since the arrangement necessary for organizing the conference including the conference venue was already placed, the pre-conference proceedings will be distributed to the participants, and the opportunity of presentation and discussion will be provided in the alternative means. In accordance with a general convention that is widely applied to academic conferences, a presentation of a participant who does not complete the payment of the registration fee will be removed from the program and its paper will be removed from the proceedings.
The committee is discussing the refunding of the accommodation fee of the conference venue hotel, the shuttle bus fee and the lunch box fee with the licensed supporting company. Further information will be notified to the concerned participants.
The committee appreciates all the participants’ understanding of this matter. deim2020-inquiry [at] googlegroups.com is the contact address regarding this matter.
